Yeah, it was about time. For years I have walked by the Jerry Michell leather shop and never paid much attention to it. Yesterday I happened to walk by and see a sign about leather bags, so I went inside to see what they had.
Back Story: I have been wanting a black Coach laptop back with Ivory stitching for ages, but they don’t make one that can carry a 17 inch MacBook Pro.
I walked in and asked about laptop bags and was whisked immediately upstairs to the leather factory where the owner and one other person were working. I whipped out my laptop and he took some measurements and said “The bags we currently make will work”. He showed me a few models of bags and sure enough the laptop fit inside perfectly. The cool part was that you could customize leather types, colors and hardware to your own liking. It did not take long to figure out that David Mitchell (Who I was talking to and son of the founder) had put a lot of thought into how one uses a laptop bag. Many reinforcements go into these hand crafted bags to ensure a lifetime of use and to top it all off… hand made right here in Milwaukee BABY!
So, yeah… I am going to find a way to fork over $900 for a custom hand made leather laptop bag, not only because it is exactly what I had been looking for, but because it helps support a local company that has been around for a long time and takes pride in only truly making the best right here in Mil-town!
