SWSWi: The trip home=cookies.
So it has been a while since the trip home from SXSWi, but until just recently, I have been quite busy.
Here is the run down of the trip home.
Austin to Dallas = No problem. Got in a little early and @tapps and myself had enough time for a leisurely lunch.
Dallas to Milwaukee = Delayed 30 mins.
Delays of 30 mins usually mean the flight will be canceled all together.
I start looking for other flights home.
Our home town airline (Mid-West Express) had a flight leaving 30 mins. later than our original flight schedule.
I probe and get @tapps and myself booked on the plane; the ticket person said: “Chances are you will not get to the other concourse in time to make the flight.” I ask “What the consequences are for missing the flight?” She replies: “You will then have to take the later flight that is in the same concourse.”
We take our chances!
@tapps and I run like hell to make the tram, sit calmly in tram, dash from the tram with our gate being the first one right off the tram exit. We get to the gate, walk right onto the plain, buckle up, push away from the gate with immediate clearance to depart while waiting for the standard “Mid-West Express serving of the warm chocolate chip cookies” while in flight. This was more than a transfer of air carriers, it was an upgrade.
The pilot pulled a few acrobatic maneuvers while in flight, but all in all it was a pleasant ride back to Milwaukee.
