The Journeys Half Marathon:

Yeah. I did it again. Last year was for my 40th birthday and I guess this year is for my 41st? Either way, it was a great time.

Unlike last year, the weather started off as questionable (light mist and 36 degrees F), but not out of question for Northern Wisconsin.

By race time it had warmed up to 47 and the 22 MPH wind gusts that were promised were more like a 5 MPH breeze. So the weather actually turned out perfect for a morning run.

Unlike last year, I did not train as much but perhaps trained more is less time.

The course seemed easier this year and I can only attribute that to actually KNOWING the course this time round.

I came in 10 seconds slower than last year at 2:11:23. So what do I have to do to become faster? Lose some more weight might be a good start, but all in all I see it like this: I’m 41 and I can still run a half marathon without too much trouble. That is better than a lot of people in my age group. Still, there are those in their 60’s that ran better times than I did, so there is always that for inspiration.

Hey! Maybe the fact that I had my flip video cam along cost me the extra 10 seconds.
