Today was a light day for the “in box” as the PLANET OF SOUND spun ROUND AND ROUND.
Peter Murphy at the Metro in Chicago. Two of my favorite songs from his new recording “Ninth”.
Peter get pissed in Pontiac Michigan. His sound man was probably checking Facebook on his phone or something. Pete eventually stopped the show entirely only to come back and play some awesome obscure Bauhaus tunes with an amazing sound quality from then on. I think some heads were rolled.
PETER MURPHY: Night 2!
What a difference a night makes. The second night was a much better venue, better lighting and a much better performance. No sound issues. Still … once the issues were ironed out the night before, I still think it beat the sonic quality of the second half of night one. The set list from night one had really obscure Bauhaus songs. Night two had more recent Bauhaus tuneage from “Go Away White” which was never toured because they broke up right after its release. Both nights provided the best of the best and all points in between. She Wants Revenge was amazing both nights, but if I had to pick a night, then night ONE was their best overall performance.
Peter Murphy (the first night): an interesting first night. He stopped the show mid-way through the first set because of issues with the monitor sound engineer. He called the guy out for playing on his smart phone while on the job. He threw a bottle of water at the guy later. Pete finally settled down just in time to do a set of Bauhaus songs. Whatever issues were in the first set, they were all worked out by the second. Everything sounded so much more sonic. Can’t wait to compare it to tonight’s show. :)
